Meet sisters, Merritt and Abbey Goldstein, the powerhouse duo running Earth Animal.

Their parents Dr. Bob and Susan Goldstein are pioneers in the pet industry, creating the first natural pet store which housed only the very best products, containing only the purest and natural ingredients without any side effects. The Goldsteins' focus has been to develop natural foods, supplements and treats. Their mission is dedicated to improving the quality of life for dogs and cats.

We asked Merritt about when she started working at Earth Animal: “We have been doing business for over 42 years in Westport, CT. It has been our passion and mission, dedicating our lives to healing dogs and cats with nutrition, diet and our very own branded veterinarian formulated supplements, that my father formulated. I was in college 25 years ago, and my Mom asked me to come home and help out at our Earth Animal Store for the summer. Strangely enough, I never left I think it was in my DNA! I realized I had the same passion for helping animals as my mother and father did. It has been a very rewarding journey to say the least. We love what we do and being in the community has been a wonderful experience! We are grateful for the local support and friendships we have made along the way.”

When you walk around Earth Animal, the store is like walking through Disney World for pet owners. There are inspiring quotes on the walls, colorful displays of food products, friendly staff eager to assist customers and fun cookies that easily rival what you’d find a human bakery!

Another wonderful aspect of their business is that Earth Animal supports local and gives back generously to the community. Abbey organizes the Earth Animal Market every Friday, 12:00-4:00pm, an outdoor market featuring local businesses.

Their current fundraising project is the Mitten Project benefiting Connecticut Foodshare. CT Foodshare provides nutritious meals for families experiencing food insecurity. To donate go to https://gofund.me/8b6473e1

The sky is the limit for Merritt and Abbey, we can hardly wait to see what they are working on next!

Trendy bags alert @knotsoneuclid

Meet Erika Burling, creator of @knotsoneuclid! A lifelong crafter, Erika wanted to try something new during quarantine and stumbled upon macrame. She loved macrame so much she began making items and giving them as gifts to family and friends. Then a neighbor suggested she participate in the Stratfield neighborhood Shop and Stroll last November and the rest in history! She received so much support from the community that her hobby evolved into her small business!

An important part of Erika’s business is that she only uses recycled fibers; it’s very important to Erika to do what she can to lead an eco-friendly lifestyle.

Originally from Philadelphia, she moved to San Francisco followed by NYC and Brooklyn. She’s held various corporate jobs in retail and children’s publishing. While in Brooklyn she met her husband and had a son. In Erika’s spare time you may see her cheering at her son’s soccer games!

One of Erika’s favorite products she makes are the bags on handles. And Erika makes the handle purses in her studio, in her car at soccer practice, vacation (shhh!) and anywhere in the house where her family is hanging out.

We asked Erika about staying positive: “The positive feedback from my customers always humbles me and keeps me motivated. Also, I’ve met so many wonderful vendors this year that are new to running small businesses. Having those connections is so instrumental in running your own business, we’re all in it together and can vent, ask questions and be supportive!”

Fun Fact: Erika is a Deadhead and lived in Northern CA for over 10 years. She went to close to 200 Dead shows when she was younger!

Mention Fairfield County Lifestyle and receive 10% off your entire purchase.

Hot off the press: Erika now offers monogramed bags! Swipe to see!

Meet Tracey Miller, owner and General Manager of iCRYO Fairfield. She and her husband Gregg own the first iCRYO Connecticut location! They are awesomely enthusiastic and beyond excited to welcome you to iCRYO Fairfield!

Tracey was a nurse for over 30 years. She worked in the ER, ICU and most recently was a home care nurse. She cared for many patients during this time, patients she was helping during illness. Tracey wanted to be on the other side of the spectrum and help patients maintain their health.

Tracey first heard about iCRYO from her uncle who owned Planet Fitness locations in CT. Tracey and Gregg loved the idea behind iCRYO, flew to Texas, met with franchisers and fell in love with the philosophy of wellness with iCRYO and was immediately sold. The Millers are no strangers to business, they own Miller Nissan in Fairfield which was started by Gregg’s grandfather.

Tracey and Gregg have three children, Casey, Shane and Morgan, you may see one at iCRYO from time to time!

With all the wonderful services iCRYO has to offer we asked Tracey what her favorite service is:

“I really like the toning facial and I would follow it up with whole body cryo that gives you a feel good feeling with you come out with an adrenaline rush. Facial feels amazing and you feel your face tightening and you feel refreshed and overall feels amazing. Makes makes my fine lines less. You look younger and refreshed and brighter. Skin is glowing.”

She had us at hello!

When Tracey is not working she loves to travel and try new restaurants. Switzerland and Peru are among her favorite destinations she has traveled to. Tracey is a self-proclaimed foodie and loves to explore new restaurants with Gregg. Among her favorites are Zohara in West Hartford, Viron Rondo in Cheshire and Bodega Taco Bar in Fairfield.

During our visit, Sherri here, I tried the iCRYO chamber. Benefits include:

  • A decrease in inflammation and pain

  • Mood enhancement

  • An increase in metabolism

  • Increase in energy levels

  • An improvement in sleep

  • 300 calorie burn - does that mean we get to have ice cream for dinner?

I felt an immediate endorphin kick and felt instantly refreshed! I loved this experience!

Jean experienced the Localized Cryotherapy and felt an immediate decrease in inflammation.

And then we tried Compression Therapy. Wow, what a treat to sit back, kick up your feet and let the compression sleeves do their work!

Benefits include:

  • decreasing lactic acid

  • decreasing inflammation

  • quick muscle recovery

  • improving blood circulation

If you want to become part of the iCRYO family, you can be a “Founding Passholder.” With this offering, you will receive a 20% discount for life on your service packages. Founding Passholders are available until 8/21/21 so come on down!
