Meet Vickie Carey, owner of Flash Pointe Dance, an inspiring dance studio located in downtown Fairfield. Flash Pointe offers classes for all ages starting with Mommy and Me classes for toddlers all the way to adults. Classes range from beginner to advanced.
We asked Vickie what led her to open Flash Pointe:
“I started FPD because I had two daughters dancing non-stop.I felt it was important that they had a place not only to utilize their time by providing exceptional training but that would also expose them to instructors that were strong mentors.My girls had several friends that they were dancing with that needed the same solutions.Additionally, I have always felt the best way to keep teenagers on a productive path, is to keep them busy within an activity that provides them a source of self-esteem independent of their peers’ opinions.”
When the pandemic started and everything shutdown immediately, Flash Pointe Dance was running Zoom dance lessons in less than one week, thank you to the creative minds of Donald Aversa and Liz Caskin. While I was at work and my 13-year old was confined to our home, I was so grateful for this safe, creative outlet. It offered a social connection where my daughter could briefly catch up with her dance friends and a physical outlet where she could release some steam after home schooling!
Currently Flash Pointe offers summer camp and follows guidelines set by State of Connecticut for Phase II Openings including high powered HEPA air purifiers running 24 hours per day. And all studios and public areas are misted before and after each group with an organic, non-toxic disinfecting cool mist!
On the street side of Flash Pointe is the boutique, Glitter and Grime, which specializes in dance, gymnastic, fitness apparel and shoes which is open to the public. The store is currently open for in-store shopping or you may order curbside pickup by calling 203-259-1620.
